Since 1966, the Barnes family has been dedicated to producing a quality oil pump for all types of race engines. For 50 years, the Barnes name has been recognized in racing communities around the world for quality, performance and reliability unsurpassed.

Since the early days when Al and John Barnes were manufacturing dry sump oil pumps out of their family garage in Redondo Beach, California, the standard for quality was set. No pump would be delivered unless they deemed it good enough to use in their own engine. This commitment to quality is as true today as it was back then.
Al Barnes (1925-2000) began product development by pinpointing deficiencies in most widely accepted oil pumps. He realized there was a need for a dry sump oil pump that could keep up with the rigorous demands of racing engines. With engineering roots in cam shaft design, cylinder head and induction component development, Al first set out to develop and produce a unique dry sump oil pump that adapted a scavenge pump to the existing 392 Chrysler oil pump. These pumps became successfully used by many drag race teams of the time. The next dry sump oil pump, produced in 1968, was for the SBC engine. These pumps were widely used on sprint car engines, and resulted in an oil system that quickly earned Al a reputation for quality and innovation with engine builders across the country.
Today, Barnes Systems oil pumps are the first choice of top engine builders around the world, with dry sump systems for applications such as sprint cars, late models, stock cars, drag racing, off-road, boat racing, sport compact, sports cars and more. We use the latest in CAD design software and CNC machining equipment as well as highly accurate CMM inspection equipment. All this is done in an effort to provide you with a top quality reliable oil pump for today's advanced engines.
